A-Z Prayers for Missions March: "B" - Boldness
Ask God to give missionaries boldness to honor Christ even in dangerous situations.
My eager expectation and hope is that I will not be ashamed about anything, but that now as always, with all boldness, Christ will be highly honored in my body, whether by life or by death (Philippians 1:20).
One of the purposes of Freedom Church is to communicate the saving message of Jesus Christ both here and away. There are many opportunities for you to participate in this at Freedom. It could be volunteering with a group that is sorting turkeys at John 3:16 Mission in Tulsa, lending a “hand” in a puppet show in a Mexican village or breaking boards in a karate demonstration in the jungles of Cambodia.
Freedom Orphanage Project
In 2009 we raised $103,074.50 for the Freedom Orphanage Project! The orphanage in Poipet, Cambodia will house 100 children and is nearing completion!
Cambodia Mission Trip 2010
A Cambodia Mission Trip is scheduled for March 11-20, 2010. This year’s trip will focus on ministry to the children of the new orphanage in Poipet. A variety of activities will be used to serve the children: VBS teaching, drama, music, games, sports, etc.
Cambodia Mission Trip
In December, 2009 Pastor Andrew and Laurie Rankin traveled to Poipet, Cambodia to visit the new children's center currently under construction, and work with Steve Hyde and other church leaders in the area. The Orphanage dedication has been postponed due to the construction progress being slower than anticipated.
Mexico Mission Trip 2009
In October 2009 Pastor Andrew and John Carleton traveled to the State of Veracruz, Mexico. Andrew taught four one-day spiritual leadership seminars for church leaders; each seminar was in a different ministry “hub” city. A total of approximately 350 leaders were trained. Andrew also taught a two-day marriage enrichment conference at the host church to approximately 200 people. “Pastor” John assisted with handing out backpacks to children, logistics, and service projects at the home church. Phil and Marianne Chain of Mexico Missions, Inc. partnered with this event.
Campus Crusade For Christ
Joanna Kelley, a recent graduate of OSU and a member of Freedom Church, has responded to God's call on her life to minister to college students. This fall she joined the staff at Campus Crusade for Christ in Stillwater. In order to further the gospel on campus she will be discipling students, leading women's Bible studies, and sharing Christ with the lost. Additionally she will be building strategic relationships with college students from many nations in the hope that the gospel can be advanced around the world from Oklahoma. Please pray for Joanna. If you would like to receive her monthly newsletter, please e-mail her at joanna.rkelley@gmail.com. Copies will also be available in the Missions Hall at church.
Mexico Backpack Program
In April, 2009 Freedom partnered with Mexico Missions Inc. to assist with their annual backpack program. A group traveled to Mexico to participate in five outreaches where they shared the gospel with kids and adults and gave away approximately 250-300 of the backpacks that Freedom helped to provide.
Around the World
In the past two years members of Freedom have gone on missions to the countries of Cambodia, Thailand, Gambia, Philippines, China, Mexico, Cuba, Nepal and the USA.
